..... is still on hold. I'm searching for the item I want to use in my next challenge.. and while it would be easier to just change the item I want to blog about, I'm now on a "mission" to find the item. However, I will admit that my search hasn't been extremely intense because I've been quite a busy little bee!! I'm still working 4 part time jobs, which while it's busy, gives me much more freedom and flexibility than I actually expected! If I want a day off, I just take it. If one of the job calls or needs me, I can simply say "I'm already working on that day".. even if by working , I mean "going to the beach with my boyfriend" or "plan on hibernating and sleeping til noon". However, "working" just has a more professional ring to it, don't you think? lol.
Let's catch you up with the other things in my life....
The Australian nursing board has nearly caused me to have a breakdown nearly weekly, but this past week they set out to put me in a mental institution by throwing in some "by the ways" of things that they need. Luckily, one of my jobs is with an agency that employs nurses, and they have offered me work as a nurse once my license has come through... therefore they were able to supply me a letter stating that I had a job as a nurse lined up and needed my license expedited...which has helped a LOT, and once I supply the most recent "by the way" documents my license will be issued. HOWEVER, the papers they want would come from my Nursing School... who has said it's something they don't supply. So that has lead to a lot of frustration on my end, because I almost felt stuck in the middle.... "we need this from your school" "we don't supply that, it's impossible".... FINALLY, I think I've made progress and am awaiting some documents to see if it will satisfy their requirements. This week coming up is a four day week here in Australia as Friday is a public holiday, so I doubt I will have any answers this week, but it's at least steps in the right direction!!
I've finally admitted that I'm technologically dependant. I've been in Perth for 12 wonderful weeks. And as I become more and more busy, I'm away from home during the day some days all day. Which means, also away from email, as the phone I had been using, was a prepaid Nokia. Did the job fine as far as phone/text goes..but no email. As an iPhone user in America for... um... 4 or 5 years I guess, I had become so reliant on email access 24/7. I love a lot about the phone, but the email was a huge thing for me. The last few weeks as things became more and more busy with the nursing license, the more and more days I get home around 7 p.m. and have emails that I have received that simply have to wait until the next day, when if I had received them during the day, I could have made the appropriate phone calls, follow up emails, etc, etc. So, after some research and talking with Wayne about it, on Thursday night, we went and made a purchase.....
The new iPhone 4S.
Now, I for one have never been one that needs the latest and greatest. When we first discussed upgrading my phone a few weeks ago, the new IPhone had been announced. So, my thoughts were that the standard I4 would be cheaper, on sale, etc, etc once the I4S was released.... However, after a trip to the local mobile store, we found out we were wrong. Apparently Apple slowed down production of the I4 so that when the I4S came out, there wouldn't be a lot of "left over" supply of the I4, and they increased production of the I4S so there wouldn't be a shortage of the new phone when it was released (this is what we were told by the mobile company at least). Because of this strategic planning on Apple's part, once the I4S was released, if any store ran out of supply, it was a temporarily out of stock (until a day or two later when more stock was received). And because of the mass production, they were able to offer the phone at a very reasonable price. For the 32gb phone, it was only $4/month more than the 16gb IPhone 4. So, newer model, and twice the storage. Seemed like a no brainer. So, the next step was to research the different mobile companies here in Perth. (one of the downfalls of moving to another country, you have no clue about any of the things you are use to knowing first hand... such as stores and companies!)
Anyways, I'm now back to my beloved iPhone. I love the new one and some of the new features and am very happy to have the email access back. And am thankful to my honey for making it happen!! :)
This morning was an early wake up as Wayne is away on the East coast of Australia for the week with work. After being apart for such long periods of time, a week just seems like nothing. Add to the fact that I'm working and my weeks are busy, he'll be home before I know it. But in all seriousness, I always miss him a lot when he's away with work (travel is approx 50% of his job), but it's certainly easier than the distance and time apart that we use to have to endure! But, I'll touch more on that on an upcoming blog entry.. yes, I am working on a non-update and non-challenge blog entry. I know you are stoked!! lol
Today is Sunday, and after coming back from the airport and taking a nap, I'm now on the couch enjoying some chick shows and movies. I should go to the beach, but that sounds like more effort than I am able to put forth today. ;) Maybe tomorrow.....
Until next time.
